Creativity, the Secret to an Effortless Success

Relax… and ideas are born. Break from focusing on what you’re trying to solve and you’ll be able to think outside the box.

Get more done with less effort by being creative.

As much as focus is an important attribute for success - truly successful people don't come up with great ideas through focus alone. They are successful because they make time to engage in a different type of activities which helps them come up with novel ideas.

Usually, great ideas present themselves when you let your mind relax, have downtime and daydream - leading to creative inspiration.

People become more imaginative and visionary by taking time out for themselves: engage in pastimes, enjoy quietness and idleness, relaxing our mind, free of worries without a to-do list.

There are basically three ways to access our potential for creativity:

1.   Learning to un-focus through diversification:

When focusing on only a specific activity or task, disengage from it - to allow yourself a new perspective. Either through mindless tasks (walks, low-focus tasks, relaxation) or through a broader set of experiences (new activities, new learning, and new experiences).

2.   Make time for stillness and silence:

Rather than being in constant motion and rushing in our busy modern life, you "unplug" yourself taking a silence break. A silence break is accomplished either through meditation, talking walks, sailing, lying down; it allows your mind to get new ideas and perspectives.

3.   Invite fun into your life:

Fun makes you feel happy and forget worries.  Fun stimulates positive emotions and opens the doors for your mind to see the big picture - it stimulates your creative imagination.

Time isn’t the main thing; it’s the only thing.
— Miles Davis

Maximize every minute of every day... time is money so we need to use it wisely, make the most of it and be in control of time so we are able to accomplish the most. Grant explains that even on your lunch break there is an opportunity to increase your sales.

His idea of NESTING is repetitively visiting the same place over and over again until you are familiar with everyone there. Have lunch in places where potential customers congregate. You need to spend time with customers, reach UP!

Go to places where qualified buyers would go. This provides you with the opportunity to go out and be seen.

We need to use every moment to sell.
How much time are you wasting?
A way to measure the time we waste on a daily basis is to record every time you find yourself doing something that wasteful; smoke break, coffee break, facebook, doodling, etc.

He who makes the most of time accomplishes the most.

YOU are in control of your time.

Secrets to Happiness # 3: Confidence Breeds Success

David-into-officea.jpg

As we talked about before, happiness happens only by accomplishing internal goals.

In order to achieve your internal goals, you have to have confidence - confidence in yourself and confidence of others.

Your opinion of yourself can be high or low and your opinion of others might also be high or low.

When it comes to confidence there are 4 different levels, of which only one provides true happiness:

1.  High opinion of yourself and a low opinion of others:

People who tend to see themselves on a high level of opinion and see other people on a low one are usually arrogant - they don't understand that having a high opinion of others doesn't lower the opinion of themselves. This is the type of person who feels they need to be better than others in order to boost his/her own confidence, and as a result are never happy, since there is always somebody else who they have to compete against.

2.   Low opinion in yourself and a high opinion of others:

Then there are those who have a high opinion of others, but a low opinion of themselves. They tend to beat themselves up and are therefore insecure. Doesn't matter how well you do, there is always somebody else who is doing better than you.

3.  Low opinion of yourself and a low opinion of others:

People who have no high opinion of anyone including themselves are usually cynical. They tend to see problems everywhere and in every corner. Being cynical is the complete opposite of confidence.

And, finally...

4. High opinion of themselves and high opinion of others:

This is the true definition of confidence. People who tend to have a high opinion of themselves and others are usually secure, positive and therefore, happy.
