Society has changed over the years, and what 40 years ago was unthinkable for many, today is the lifestyle of millions of people. To be more specific, there are 582 million entrepreneurs in the world.

Many people have grown up thinking that stability and financial security come from getting a job and earning a regular income. However, in the last 20 years, we have seen a new trend, the generations that now represent the main percentage of the workforce have started to notice that this style of work sacrifices their freedom.

Therefore, the path of the entrepreneur seems increasingly attractive.

So, let's talk about why entrepreneurship can be the key to happiness.

The entrepreneurship path can be seen as a roller coaster with risks, challenges, and even some failures. Furthermore, entrepreneurs generally face a high level of stress, longer work hours, and uncertainty; however, for many startups, the peaks make the lows worth it.

3 Reasons Why Entrepreneurship Could Bring Happiness

  • First of all, is the engagement with life. Entrepreneurs don't have to follow employer's rules, because they are their own employer, so they enjoy more freedom to pursue meaningful personal activities.

  • Secondly, since entrepreneurs' businesses often emerge based on their personal strengths, they can make better use of their talents. Additionally, they associate their identity with their job, so their business becomes a reflection of who they are. And the job stops being a job and turns into a calling.

  • Last but not least, working for someone else is far from giving you freedom, or even financial security. Actually, you will not have any guarantees about your status as an employee, you could be fired despite your great skills. Or you could never get that promotion you've worked so hard for. On the contrary, when you run your own business, all your efforts come back to you, and financially you can tell the difference.

According to some researchers, salaried workers can earn more money than many entrepreneurs. However, entrepreneurs have the freedom to decide, they are independent and can choose when and with whom to work, this influences their motivation, mental health, and productivity.
